There is no payment system. the printer is on sale for 1500$ for the first 100 customers. Then it goes up to 3000$.
The second picture is a weighted companion cube from thingiverse but with the support structure intact.

Small, note, the motors used are stepper motors, not servo motors. A servo would include position feedback, which I don't think this printer has. (though, neither do any of the others AFAIK)

I like what you do-excellent.
In addition to makerbot, there are some new models out there for 3d printers.
You may want to check out Botmill ( www.BotMill.com ) they have new models all based on the reprap open source platform
